Honest Cops And The Gospel Of Christ

Hello Everyone!

This week, we had my absolute favorite lessons with some amazing friends! It was right after a really good lesson with one of Agostinho's (a member in our branch) friends, Rodriguez, and he followed us to our next message to hear that one too! We then started to teach both Rodriguez and another friend called Rufina!

For that message, we taught about the Gospel of Christ, and it was absolutely incredible! They had such great insights and participated in the lesson with such great enthusiasm! Because they were participating so well, I felt like I could better connect to these people and bear a stronger witness of the steps we can take to be closer to God and His Son. At the end of the lesson, we invited them both to be baptized on the 21st, and they were excited to accept!

We met with Rodriguez later that week and had a lesson about a few commandments, and when we taught about the Word of Wisdom, he promised us he would stop drinking coffee if that was what God wanted! It is so amazing to see the strong faith in the people here. We see so many people with belief in God, but every once in a while, I get to see such strong faith and devotion among the people here. Seeing their faith reminds me of the pure faith we should strive to have in God, His word, and His plan. The members and some of our friends have demonstrated such pure and simple faith that I get reminded of what faith really means at its base: knowing God loves us and fulfilling His will happily and lovingly.

For the other part of the subject, today our taxi got pulled over, and for the first time, the cop didn't take the bribe money! Generally here, when cops get involved, if you give them some cash they'll leave you be (sometimes they even straight up just ask for money). I mean the cop still pulled us over for annoying him, so maybe not completely honest, but still!

I hope y'all are doing well! And be sure to not bribe any cops!
