Behold, I Am A Disciple Of Jesus Christ, The Son Of God. I Have Been Called Of Him To Declare His Word Among His People, That They Might Have Everlasting Life.
Hello everyone!
This week, we've continued to have some amazing lessons and found some new friends to teach. Unfortunately, our friend Lukeny, who was supposed to be baptized yesterday, wasn't able to because of scheduling conflicts that prevented us from having lessons this week. We're hoping to keep meeting with him and help him feel ready for baptism soon.
President Sykes asked us to write a talk on the Book of Mormon being another testament of Christ in preparation for Zone Conference tomorrow, and I thought I'd share some of the overarching themes with you all.
In our lives, we are to face challenges. The confusion, misunderstandings, and temptations in this world run rampant. On our own, it would be impossible to decipher the will of God. On our own, it would be impossible to learn and become closer to our Savior. However, we have a loving Heavenly Father who set a plan in motion to help us. Through the calling of divinely appointed prophets, we have a book that can assist us. It is the most true book to exist, a book that, by abiding by its precepts, we can come closer to God than any other book. This wonderful testament of Christ, the Book of Mormon.
The Book of Mormon is truly solely about Christ. Although He only physically appears and teaches a few times, every single page makes reference to Him. Every page glorifies His goodness, His mercy, and His perfection. The book as a whole testifies that Jesus is the Christ, our Savior, and King. When we read the inspired words of the prophets of old, we read their testimonies and dedication to the Lord. We have the chance to learn more of Christ's character and teachings.
It is incredible to see how the Lord has touched the lives of these prophets and the evidence of their testimonies and joy in this book. Some people claim the Book of Mormon isn't about Christ, but how couldn't it be when every page, every story, and every prophet praises Him and teaches of Him? After all, while the Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion, Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. The Book of Mormon serves to further His work and our faith in Him. I'm really glad to have this opportunity to share this book with so many people.
Hope everyone is well!
