A Week In Africa

Hey Everybody!

This week has been pretty wild and honestly kind of hard. The initial culture shock on the first day was crazy. I've adjusted more since, but I'm still new. However, I am slowly getting used to how things are done in Angola.

Regarding the language, I still don't know a lot. I can speak a little and understand even less, but I can teach, and that's really all I need for right now. I'm still working on building my language skills and understanding the Angolan accent, but I'm getting somewhere, even in just one short week.

This week has been super eventful. We've taught a whole bunch of lessons, had a baptism and confirmation, a service activity, and an activity to build relationships in the community. It's incredible, all the things we can do and the people we can teach.

The food here is actually pretty good, contrary to what my MTC district said. We eat lots of chicken; that seems to be the meat of choice here, but it is great because my companion is an amazing cook!

I'm really thankful for this opportunity to serve in Angola. I've already learned and seen things that I would've never had if I served in other parts of the world. I'm excited to continue to learn more as I serve these wonderful people.

Also, super pumped for the temple here! Such an amazing blessing. I know the people here are so excited (my phone about exploded last night when we found out), and I am so happy that a house of the Lord will be accessible to these people.

Love y'all! Stay safe!
